Testimonials

What our students say

★★★★★

I wholeheartedly recommend Sam as an acting coach. I have had many over the years and she is the perfect blend of caring and challenging. You feel safe to take risks with her in the room and there is no bigger compliment! Great teacher, great human.
— Olivia, Huddersfield
Sam is a fantastic teacher and communicator, very professional and gives you a clear understanding of what you are there to learn.
— Steve, Leeds★★★★★
I started acting as a complete beginner and couldn't have asked for a better teacher to start with. Sam is incredibly encouraging, patient and really knows how to bring the best out of people. Sam creates a great atmosphere in every class and makes you feel comfortable pushing yourself, even when you're completely out of your comfort zone. I've learnt loads already and my confidence has come on massively. I'd genuinely recommend Sam to anyone wanting to get into acting.
— Cameron, Doncaster★★★★★
As someone who has never acted before, I found Sam's Truth in Action classes to be brilliant. Sam is so encouraging in her teaching that within the first few minutes any nerves I had disappeared, and I thoroughly enjoyed it: the group I am in have even been involved in a professional shoot!
— Phil, South Yorkshire★★★★★
Sam Roccia is an excellent acting coach and she's also a professional working actress herself. Sam has such a warm, sociable personality and creates a highly creative, welcoming environment where you feel safe to take risks.

What I appreciate most is Sam's practical approach; she breaks down scripts with you, films your scenes, and gives deeply detailed constructive feedback. I've learned so much from her, especially during her Laban Workshop where she perfectly translated movement skills to the screen.

She also creates amazing opportunities for her students, like a recent workshop I attended where actor Clive Russell came in to give us his personal acting advice. Currently, we are doing actual filming for an exciting script Sam wrote and is directing herself. I cannot recommend her classes enough!
— Janet, Doncaster★★★★★
Really enjoyed Sam's acting workshop! It was great fun, helped build confidence and was a brilliant way to meet new people and make friends. Sam is a really talented actor and made everyone feel welcome. Would definitely recommend!
— Luke, Doncaster★★★★★
I have absolutely loved being part of the Screen Acting course since it first started. Every week, I have become more confident on camera and developed my ability to work with actors of different ages and experience levels. As I am about to begin my journey into acting through drama school, Sam's teaching has given me such a strong foundation and valuable experience to help me feel confident in myself as an actress.

Sam is a lovely, supportive and encouraging teacher who genuinely wants to help you grow and develop, and I would highly recommend the course to anyone looking to begin or improve their screen acting skills and confidence!
— Amelia, South Yorkshire★★★★★
I have attended Sam's Laban workshops. She is a great teacher. Her classes are structured in a way to ensure each person has time to be involved, learn and practise techniques. There's always a great energy and warmth in the sessions. Love Sam's classes … definitely recommended!
— Jane, Huddersfield★★★★★
I have attended classes run by professional actor Sam Roccia for over a year now. I have learnt greatly regarding the craft of acting, and her experience pointers regarding moving into industry and navigating actor life.

Sam Roccia has the natural ability to have anyone improve their abilities and knowledge of the craft — describing her taught acting and performance techniques as ‘adding to your tool kit’. I massively recommend, whatever your level of experience or ability, attending her classes and simply, learn! Highly recommended.
— Simon, West Yorkshire★★★★★
Sam's lessons are very engaging and, most of all, very educational. I feel like my acting skills have improved a lot since I've attended the lessons. It's very different to most acting lessons in the most positive way imaginable, as it focuses on practical and precise learning with clear feedback and targets for improvement. Also, they're a lot of fun.
— Francis, Doncaster★★★★★
Sam has provided a safe space to work. From the get go she has watched the team grow, found their strengths, and worked on positivity. Her weekly scripts, mainly written by herself, are fantastic and you can see she thinks and plans for her students, creating lines that bring out the best in each person.

I have attended one of her workshops which was fun and I had the opportunity to act alongside Clive Russell. Sam certainly pulls out all the stops. I see how hard she works. My confidence has grown since I joined Truth in Action. Sam is a truly inspiring teacher. Her knowledge of the industry is outstanding. I can't wait for the new term.
— Geraldine, Doncaster★★★★★
